The Timothy Oulton
flagship in Dallas is quickly approaching its one-year anniversary! Just last June, the beloved Brit—known for his tufted leather sofas and antique-inspired casegoods —generated major buzz in the Dallas design scene when he brought his business stateside. Oulton's style is instantly recognizable; masculine upholstery pieces and twinkling crystal chandeliers caged in orbs of aged metal, accompanied by lighthearted accessories (boxing gloves, toy cars, bowler hats), create intriguing interiors that are both grandly traditional and unexpectedly fun.The General mattress with Big Beam bedstead.
This month, the designer debuts his first line of mattresses, the Perpetual Collection
. Fit for a king, each plush bed is handcrafted in a process requiring more than 160 hours of labor and 7,535 springs. With prices starting at $4,300 and climbing to $11,000, you may actually have to be royalty to own one, but we can't deny being inspired by the amazing bedrooms Oulton has created around each mattress. Each of the four styles (The General, The Brigadier, The Colonel, and The Captain) can be topped with your choice of international flag and coordinating ticking, shown below.
