Sneak Peek! The Fitzgerald Suite at the Plaza Hotel

Minutes before we walked into The Fitzgerald Suite this morning, Catherine Martin—the multi–award-winning set and costume designer for The Great Gatsby (in theaters on May 10)—was putting her finishing touches on it. She's the mastermind behind the gorgeous Deco guest room that makes its debut at The Plaza hotel today. Also in attendance were F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald's granddaughter and great-granddaughter. Here's a first look at the 700-square-foot suite that can be yours, starting May 10, for a cool $2,795 per night.
Welcome to the Fitzgerald Suite: the door gets the Deco treatment with Jay Gatsby's insignia.
Catherine Martin herself was there to give us a tour. "It's been a fantastic experience—I mean, a dream come true," she says.
The bed was made up with Jay Gatsby monogrammed bedding by Restoration Hardware. The accent pillow and wallpaper are from Martin's own collection.
The renovation took two months to complete and included the addition of recessed ceiling domes, pictured above. The chandelier, a real showstopper from Restoration Hardware, was designed so that when the glass parts brush up against each other, they sound like champagne glasses clinking.
Martin explains a few of the pieces used to decorate the room—several items were used as props on the movie.

A copy of F. Scott Fitzgerald's passport is framed as decor.

A reading area was designed specifically with Fitzgerald fans in mind.
