The holiday catalogs start rolling in this time every year—and with them, visions of boxwood and evergreen wreaths dance through our heads. Why not take the decorating into your own hands with this festive ring of cinnamon sticks. Embellished with autumnal flowers, dried citrus, or bright-red berries, it welcomes guests with a rustic elegance that's at once celebratory and subdued. Lonny's go-to crafter Steph Hung created this stunner with just four ingredients and three simple steps. What that means for you? An easy, beautiful holiday decoration your whole family will enjoy in no time at all.
- (1) 12-inch embroidery hoop
- cinnamon sticks (about 100 sticks or 4 bags for this size hoop)
- glue gun
- dried flowers or fruit (we used amaranth and mums)
With a hot glue gun, attach cinnamon sticks to the embroidery hoop.
Step 1 (continued)
Don't worry about completely covering the hoop at once—you can go back and fill in the gaps after the first layer.
Add dried flowers or fruits (see below) at random.
Hang from a nail behind the wreath, or from a ribbon.
You can also embellish your wreath with other natural elements like nuts, berries, and dried orange slices, as seen here.
