Chai-Spiced Mulled Cider
- 4 cups apple cider
- 2 oranges, juiced
- 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
- 4 whole cloves
- 2 cinnamon sticks, plus more for garnish
- ¼ teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
- 6 cardamom pods, cracked
- 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
- ¾ cup whiskey
- sliced crab apples, for garnish
Stir together cider, orange juice, brown sugar, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and ginger in a medium saucepan. Simmer covered, for 15 minutes. Let cider cool slightly and strain it through a fine mesh strainer, discarding the solids. Stir in whiskey and garnish with cinnamon sticks and crab apple slices.
