To say that Diana Yen knows her way around the kitchen is an understatement. As the founder of The Jewels of New York, she has assembled a highly talented collective of chefs who can do more than just cook, from styling and shooting food to catering and consulting on recipes for the likes of Martha Stewart and Kinfolk. And now Lonny. To celebrate the release of Yen's new cookbook, A Simple Feast, we're posting original recipes by The Jewels of New York right here on Lonny.com. So even if you're not a domestic diva, you can entertain like the best of them.

This warming treat makes use of all of those extra apples from the market," says Yen. "Gather your friends, carve out some time—and a Gala or two—and enjoy this simple cider."

In a stockpot, combine apple cider, cloves, nutmeg, star anise, cinnamon sticks, ginger, orange peel and maple syrup. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, then lower to a simmer for 10 minutes. Keep warm until ready to serve. To serve, add ¼ cup bourbon to each apple cup and top with cider, a cinnamon stick, and star anise.

For the Apple Cups:
-- 6 apples (Fuji, Red Delicious, or Gala)
-- juice of 1 lemon

On a cutting board, use a knife to cut off the top of the apple. Carefully score the rim of your apple cup, ¼-inch from the edge. Use a spoon to scoop out the inner apple flesh and form a cup shape. Brush lemon juice over the inside of the apples to prevent browning. Fill each cup with spiced cider cocktail.
