When it comes to nostalgic desserts, we're straight-up Oliver Twist: "Please, sir, I want s'more." But despite countless childhood summers spent huddled over a blazing campfire, attempting to char marshmallows to their ideal crispness, we were sorry to learn that we've been doing it all wrong. Enter the camp butlers—yes, that's a thing—at Montana's Resort at Paws Up, the tented luxury ranch and glamping destination that makes most standard hotels look like the wilderness. Just in time for National S'mores Day, they've shared five tried-and-true tips for making the best s'mores ever.

1. Crunch it up. Marshmallows aren't the only things that benefit from a little toasting. Singe the edges of each graham cracker to add the perfect crunch.

2. Pre-melt the chocolate. Place your chocolate of choice in a small ceramic bowl by the fire while you toast the 'mallow.

3. Add variety. The classic s'more uses a plain-old Hershey bar, but we get creative, using candy such as Reese's, Twix, Snickers, Heath Bars for a personalized touch.

4. The perfect toast. Don't go for the flame, go for the embers. Rotating is key to golden perfection, just be sure you catch the marshmallow right before it falls into the fire—that's the sweet spot!
