When hosting a holiday party, your bar cart not only has to be well-stocked, but also fun and festive for the season. If you're stumped on how to take it to the next level, Emily Current and Meritt Elliott are here to help. The designers expanded their line at Pottery Barn to include some amazing holiday offerings to add some extra cheer to your space.
"A well-curated bar cart is a fun way to showcase some of your seasonal collectibles and the perfect opportunity to spotlight festive cocktail offerings," shares the pair. "To take your everyday bar cart up a few notches for the holidays, try some of our go-to tips."
Set A Theme
"Every unforgettable space — even a bar cart! — begins with a creative concept," says Current and Elliott. "Just like when you're designing a room in your home, start with a color (gold!) or a motif (a warm winter cabin!) and let everything from your cocktails offerings to your glassware reflect the narrative."
Style It Up
"Style your bar-cart the same way you’d style an outfit — classic, but with some fun and unexpected touches," they advise. "Add in a holiday twist with metallic accented glassware, decanters, and a sparkly garland."
Incorporate Fresh Accents
"Florals add aroma and a beautiful splash of color to your bar cart — and an organic wink to this special time of year," says Current and Elliott. "For the holiday season, we love decorating with a variety of winter greens, lush white accents, and oranges for a sweet surprise. A charming receptacle, like a gold top hat ice bucket, can serve double duty for a flower arrangement or chilling a bottle of champagne!"
"No bar cart is complete without fresh, handcrafted cocktails," say the designers. "Our go-to cocktail for the holidays is a warm and cozy drink — we’re obsessing over the hot Cointreau Mulled Cider created with a few key ingredients: Cointreau, Bourbon, fresh lemon juice and two dashes of Angostura Bitters. For a party, try and instant crowd pleaser like the Sparkling Side Car — crafted with Cointreau, Rémy Martin VSOP, fresh lemon juice, and a touch champagne."
Add Loved Keepsakes
"Put a personal touch on your holiday bar cart by adding some antique holiday ornaments, a gold trinket box, or a cherished family photo taken during this magical time of year," share Current and Elliott. "These little details will instantly put a smile on your face as you’re mixing up that hot Cointreau mulled cider!"
