"I was revamping my room around the time New York magazine's Summer 2014 Design Hunting issue came out," says Lonny
Photo Editor Genevieve Garruppo. "I couldn't seem to make up my mind—should I buy a clean, minimal platform bed? An antique iron headboard and footboard? As soon as I saw the cover I knew 'neo-Baroque' was the direction I was going to take." So she found a sculptural wood headboard on Krrb.com
and, like many of us do, stopped there. But with such a high-impact image as her inspiration, Garruppo knew it would take more than a new bed to get her space up to snuff. So she added graphic black and white wallpaper to set off the exposed brick walls, vintage chintz drapery to soften the streaming light, a groovy lamp for a hit of color and shape, and with that, she had a fresh take on a look that could have otherwise seemed heavy and dark. Those DIY pillows
don't hurt either. What do you think of her before and after?
