(Black peacock mohawk by New York Vintage: $1,500)Yes, we know. Punk
isn't the first thing that springs to mind when it comes to Moda Operandi. But in the latest genius move from company co-founder Lauren Santo Domingo and artistic director Taylor Tomasi Hill, the luxury online retailer has just launched an exclusive capsule collection with designers such as Givenchy, Balmain, and Vivienne Westwood riffing on the counterculture movement's most iconic looks. The release is timed to the Metropolitan Museum's spring 2013 Costume Institute exhibition, Punk: Chaos to Couture, which opens next week.
(Leather chandelier by Fleet Ilya: $4,480)I mean, a black peacock mohawk? A leather chandelier with Fifty Shades of Grey overtones? A hand-studded "I Love NY" T-shirt that costs almost $10,000? It's almost too much glamour.
(I Love NY studded T-shirt by Eddie Borgo, $9,995, and M'O X Hermès Kelly bag, $16,500)If you're in Manhattan, check out a few select pieces at Thornwillow at the St. Regis New York (a gorgeous nook well worth seeing on its own). Me, I'm tempted to channel my inner Nancy Spungen in haute-design fashion with this 18-karat gold ring by Solange Azagury-Partridge. F** yes, indeed.
