Illustrator Tony Viramontes captured the world of 1980s fashion—not to mention its larger-than-life personalities, including Janice Dickinson and Duran Duran—in all its heady New Wave glamour. The work of the LA-born artist (who died of AIDS in 1988 at age 31) is back in the limelight this month thanks to an exclusive sale of 25 original drawings and polaroids on luxury online marketplace 1stdibs. Bergdorf Goodman is also devoting its windows to his creations this month, in conjunction with the late October release of a monograph entitled Bold, Beautiful, and Damned: The World of 1980s Fashion Illustrator Tony Viramontes.
