When Rebecca Atwood decided to open a store, she had a vision in mind. The textile and home decor designer's very first retail space would house all of her creations — even new products she hasn't officially launched yet. The plan was that fabrics, wallpapers, pillows and bedding, and exclusive home items would all live under the same roof, and now, that vision has come to life.
On Mott street in Nolita, Atwood's retail shop is now open. The walls are lined with plush pillows, artistic fabrics, and unique objects. The store is comprised of deep blues and creamy oranges, and the space is thoughtfully curated with small items such as eye masks, ceramics, glassware, and more. The store owner also wanted to lift up fellow designers and artisans, so she included goods from The Shelter Collection, Fort Standard, Rosie Li, Allied Maker, and a few more.
So, why open a store now? Atwood is celebrating the fifth anniversary of her brand's launch, and she believes that the shifts happening in retail open doors for new, unique, and exciting IRL shopping experiences. She worked with close comrade and interior designer Kate Hamilton Gray to build out and complete the space. The results? A female-made design haven.
