There's nothing quite like rolling out an old picnic blanket in the park and settling in with some PB&Js for a long summer's laze. Unless of course you add to that equation a New York rooftop with a stunning skyline view, designer-curated picnic baskets, and the chance to do good while you dine.
For its third annual Picnic by Design
on August 13, DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) has invited a roster of the city's top creative talents to create incredible, conceptual dining experiences, from blanket to basket. Diners can purchase a "table" for two for $300, with all proceeds going to treatment and direct-care services for people living with HIV/AIDS, preventive education programs, and public policy initiatives. The best part, besides supporting this very worthy cause of course: At the end of the night you get to pack up your curated accoutrement and bring it all home.
Picnic by Design is the sister event to the industry favorite Dining by Design
dinner, held at the Architectural Digest
Home Design Show each spring. And like its forebear, there will also be a cocktail party that's a bit more affordable at $75.
