When looking to buy art on a budget, it's often hard to find pieces you love that fit within your price range. Luckily, IKEA is here to help. The home giant just curated a new collection in collaboration with the iconic camera brand Hasselblad. Not only are the posters priced under $25, the artists are pretty extraordinary. In fact, each photographer is a winner of the Hasselblad Masters, a biannual award for longtime or even lifetime achievements in their profession.
“Photography is a vital way to express yourself and showcase the world from your perspective. In this day and age with social media, this form of expression and art has become even more popular, creating a whole new group of everyday photographers," says Marcus Engman, head of design for IKEA. "With this collection of images, both IKEA and Hasselblad aim to inspire people to continue capturing the world, while offering stunning photographs to those looking to make their home unique."
The photographers are also excited to have their works available on such a large scale not available to many artists. "I have it in my apartment, as a six-and-a-half-foot-wide print," shares Prague-based photographer Bara Prasilova of her above work, "Windsock". "Does that sound too self-involved? It just makes me happy and calm, and it’s funny; I love the colors. I’m convinced it will now bring happiness to more people because they can buy it at IKEA."
New York-based artist Ali Rajabi is also excited to showcase his photography. "This is a slice of daily life. I hope that people who see this photograph at IKEA will see the beauty of a moment cast in darkness and light," he says. "It’s this contrast that forms human life and searches for balance. I’m excited that my work can also be part of other people’s daily lives."
The collection will be available in IKEA stores beginning in August while supplies last. If you're ready for a new art piece, we suggest making your way over before they sell out.
