Utopia Goods Turns Australia's Native Flora & Fauna Into Irresistible Prints

Utopia Goods turns Australia's native flora and fauna into irresistible prints.

Forest ferns, wallabies, and laughing kookaburras gambol across the wares of home decor brand Utopia Goods, run by partners Bruce Slorach and Sophie Tatlow from a sunny warehouse in Sydney’s Surry Hills district. The two-year-old line features hand-drawn illustrations on screen-printed textiles: backpacks, aprons, bed linens, upholstery fabrics, and more in exuberant color combinations. Native to Australia, the botanicals and bush animals depicted in the designs are inspired by Slorach’s childhood in the foothills of the Grampians National Park. Yet despite such elemental influences, the products convey an urbane sophistication with just the right amount of whimsy. These are patterns you’ll want to pile on with reckless abandon.
