It's a proud day in Lonny-land when one of our Next Big Names alums hits the big time. Today, it's Katy Skelton's day. We like to say we knew the Brooklyn furniture designer way back when: for proof, look to our home tour of her first Crown Heights apartment (still crushing on that acrylic-nightstand-and-malachite-pillow situation) and this story announcing her as one of our Next Big Names of 2015. Looks like none other than Nancy Meyers agrees. Because the famously interiors-obsessed writer/producer/director just conferred on Skelton the ultimate accolade: giving one of her pieces a prominent spot on set.
Behold, the Wythe Media Cabinet, debuting on Meyers' Instagram feed in the fictional Brooklyn brownstone of one of The Intern's main characters, Jules Ostin (played by Anne Hathaway). With its sleek ebony finish and Old Hollywood stylings, the piece is both timeless and fresh, a pretty good description of Skelton's aesthetic and Meyers's crossover sensibility. Congratulations, Ms. Skelton. We'll be convening a viewing party shortly in your honor.
