If the prospect of furnishing a three-month-long rental makes you want to shudder, then you're going to want to keep reading.
Often the trickiest part about getting settled lies in the details — think adding in those throw pillows or blankets to make your space feel complete. Sometimes, giving your temporary new digs a warm, cozy atmosphere can set you back a pretty penny.
Thankfully, West Elm has teamed up with fashion e-tailer, Rent the Runway, to offer a coveted selection of 26 different textile bundles for your home, all conveniently available to rent. Officially set to launch in early June, dozens of West Elm decor offerings — from shags to throws to bed coverings and pillows— could be all yours. Well, at least for a little while.
“This is a monumental moment for Rent the Runway, and the sharing economy as a whole," said the fashion consignment's co-founder and CEO, Jennifer Hyman.
"We know that clothing is often a vehicle to help people feel confident and expressive, and this new partnership will unlock that feeling through home decor."
The rental process emulates the fashion service's popular subscription format. Shopper's sign up for bundles, priced at a reasonable $159 per month, with each boasting a curated selection of pieces for specific rooms. Bedroom bundles feature a quilt, coverlet, throw or blanket, shams, and decorative pillows, while living room bundles include cozy accents like decorative pillows and a statement throw.
“We are making it easier than ever for customers to discover great design for their spaces,” said West Elm president, Alex Bellos. “Each of our 26 curated home bundles encourage subscribers to translate their playful and bold style to decorating, and allow them to experience West Elm’s original, modern products from the comforts of home.”
Existing Rent the Runway customers are encouraged to branch out with the option to alternate between satisfying your fashion or home decor fix. Fans of West Elm can expect to find the brand's full textile selection, ranging from organic cottons to plush velvet to Belgian flax linen. Furnishing that short-term rental is suddenly looking a whole lot better.
