"Design is a force; the compilation of every single detail, every thought or intent, forming the moment we share with an object." Such is the M.O. behind the Divine Details exhibit and pop-up shop, a collaboration between downtown design studio Little Fury and professional design association AIGA. The store-cum-gallery turns the spotlight on 33 of the world's most beautiful and well-crafted common goods. Each product is accompanied by a complementary work of fiction commissioned from some of the city's best writers, including music writer Garnette Cadogan and Brooklyn-based food blogger Cathy Erway. "We've created this space with AIGA to transform the holiday shopping rush into an experience that is thoughtful and imaginative," says creative director Tina Chang, co-founder of Little Fury.
Upon the exhibition's closing, Divine Details will roll into Divine Monthly, a "program for uncovering the extraordinary." Participants in the subscription-based program receive three "Divine" objects over three months, accompanied by an original story inspired by the product.
