Artist Ashley Goldberg is known for her vibrant, quirky patterns—a style that's been showcased in clothing, textile, and case goods collaborations with the likes of the Land of Nod, Urban Outfitters, and Serena & Lily, among others. But her Portland, Oregon, home is another story. Take her living room (above). Featuring soothing white tones and streamlined furnishings, it's at once cozy—courtesy of petite fireplace—and contemporary, allowing for equal amounts of work and play. In fact, all of the rooms in the ranch-style structure provide a sort of peaceful respite from her busy work schedule. Here are a few we spotted while Insta-stalking her latest projects.
The Dining Room
In a Scandi-mod space off the living room, a graphic black-and-white rug sits beneath a blond-wood Parsons table flanked by plastic Eames-style chairs. Built-in shelving and drawers take the place of a traditional server, increasing storage space without adding bulk.
THE BAR CART
Entertaining is easy when you have your cocktail accoutrements within reach. Here, a gold-hued bar cart holds vintage and contemporary glass pieces, from decanters to specialty glasses.
The Nordic theme continues in the kitchen, where a breakfast nook features luxe fur and wire chairs, an antler chandelier and moody walls.
A herringbone pattern installed in marble tiling creates an inspiring focal point in the bathroom, which is currently under renovation. "One of us is very happy that their partner tiled their way through grad school, while the other is very unhappy that their partner makes patterns for a living and is 'particular,'" says Goldberg of her boyfriend's work in the space.
In the master bedroom, a massive paper lantern—purchased on sale at Pottery Barn Teen—creates a whimsical counterpoint to a polished tufted headboard and modern bedside table-and-lamp combination.
