By now you should know that H&M is a destination not just for trendy, wallet-friendly fashion, but also for cool and fairly priced home decor. We're happy to report that the newest wave of design accents are better than ever. The collection features just-bold-enough geometric patterns in smoky pinks, deep teals, and soft grays that cover a wide range of pillows, throws, and rugs. Before the new goods pile up in our online shopping carts, we called on Evelina Kravaev Söderberg, H&M Home's head of design, to talk style and inspiration, and to relish in the coziness of the new season. Read on for our quick Q&A with the stylish Swede, and be sure to check out the slideshow below featuring some of our favorite pieces—all available right this second.
What was the inspiration for the fall line of H&M Home?
"Our inspiration came from nature, authenticity, and art-deco luxe. It is a season of contrasts: rich, dark, and decorated or soft, calm, and serene. Natural materials like wood and glass are key. Ethnic patterns, knitted cushions, and blankets are important for that warm, genuine, and cozy winter look and feel."
What are your three favorite pieces from the new line?
"We love the velvet cushion covers in petrol blue and dark gray, and the heavy knitted blanket in charcoal gray. Another favorite is the candle holders in brass, and the scented candle in the metallic-colored glass container."
What do you love most about autumn?
"The fact that I can decorate my home in a rich and warm way and light a lot of candles to get a perfect cozy atmosphere."
How would you describe your decorating aesthetic? Does it influence your design?
"My aesthetic is simple yet personal. It goes really well with the H&M Home concept and design as we strive to bring clear, contemporary, and diverse collections for our customers."
What are some beautiful yet easy ways to transition your home to fall?
"Dress your sofa for the fall season with lovely new cushion covers and a knitted blanket in your favorite color. Decorate with candles and tea light holders—scented candles that you light in every room of the house."
