The savvy European furniture retailer Hem, whose Scandi-modern aesthetic has seen it touted as leveled-up IKEA since its launch last year, has just introduced a fashionable collaboration that has obliterated our Christmas wish lists. The two new designs, 100% New Zealand wool throw blankets by Vienna-born, Milan-based fashion designer Arthur Arbesser, hit a sweet spot between the heritage vibe of brands like Faribault and Pendleton and the minimal yet colorful design we've come to expect from this part of the world.
The simple, geometric creations, each available in four colorways, prove you don't need red and green tartan for a blanket to feel festive. There's nothing more joyful than simple arches and perpendicular sets of stripes rendered in completely fresh-feeling hues. "I always like when things are quite vigorous and strict," explains Arbesser, "but then through the color you add sort of the fun factor, and the liveliness, and the good energy."
We think it's fair to say, it's time to cancel all your Amazon orders and just gift everyone one of these beauties.
